Things that inspire me

One of the things that surprised me the most when I began to build this brand is that there is much more to think about when creating a collection than there is to do.  A good 3-4 months of research and initial designing will happen before I begin to make a pattern, cut into a piece of fabric, or tie a single bow.  Fortunately for me, this can be the most enjoyable part of the whole process!

So what are some of the things that really inspire me during those R&D months?  (All via Pinterest - where you can see a full range of things that have inspired my upcoming AW13 collection)

Nature : Belladonna, for the juxtaposition of beauty and darkness

Architecture : Chateau de Chantilly, for a dramatic piece of history in a modern setting

Fashion sketches : Paul Iribe Jeanne Lanvin - Cleopatre Illustration from 1925, for offering a drop of glamour in our everyday lives

Expressive Models : Clara Settje, for bringing calm beauty to photographs like this one from Elle Denmark, June 2011

Great Designers : Carine Gilson, for reminding us that covering up can be far sexier than revealing it all

Wishing you all silk, lace, and all things lovely - and in the wake of Super Storm Sandy, wishing you all peace, security, and comfort in these challenging times.
